How We Test

Every product that earns a FieldLens score is either purchased by the publication or borrowed on a manufacturer loan, then used in normal everyday conditions for long enough to form a considered opinion. We do not base verdicts on a press-day hands-on.

Scores run out of ten and reflect performance relative to current rivals in the same category. We revisit and update reviews when firmware, pricing or new competition meaningfully shifts the picture.

When a review or feature involves a commercial relationship with a brand, that is disclosed at the top of the article. The score and the conclusions are always ours.
